Community-Focused Approach

Our programs are designed with and for communities, addressing real health barriers and empowering CHWs to create lasting change where they live and serve.

In Their Own Words

Our trainees are the heart of what we do. Through AKHCAN’s foundational training, CHWs gain the tools and confidence to remove barriers, build trust, and create lasting impact in their communities.

Community Health Coordinator

"I found this training to be both powerful and practical, equipping me with the knowledge and skills needed to support individuals in a more holistic and compassionate manner. It was a truly insightful experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from you and your team!"

Behavioral Health Assistant

"I thought it was great to be in training with people from all over Kentucky. Hearing snippets about people's day-to-day that differ from my own helped me think about work in different terms. I also appreciated the exposure to people like you (Kellie Warren) and Geoff Wilson and your experiences. Hearing tips and tricks you have picked up through your careers and getting insight into how you think through problems was invaluable."

Community Health Coordinator

"The training allows you to look at different scenarios, and the bigger picture. However, my favorite information was regarding what to expect and do during the home visits. I would never think to ask certain questions before going on a home visit, or what to do if something unexpected happens."
