Appalachian Kentucky Health Care Access Network (AKHCAN)
For over 25 years, the Appalachian Kentucky Health Care Access Network (AKHCAN) has worked to connect communities with quality, accessible health care through the power of Community Health Workers (CHWs). As one of Kentucky’s state-approved CHW training providers, AKHCAN equips and supports the people who make health care possible, right where they live and serve.
Community Health Worker (CHW) Training, Resources, and Support
Supporting CHWs. Reducing Barriers. Increasing Access.
AKHCAN is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to connecting communities with quality, accessible health care through the power of Community Health Workers (CHWs). For over 25 years, we’ve worked alongside partners, providers, and advocates to expand access for low-income, uninsured, and underinsured Kentuckians.
Our 40-hour Tier 1 Competency-Based CHW Training, offered both in-person and virtually, is approved by the Kentucky Department for Public Health Office of Community Health Workers.
This foundational training equips CHWs with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make a lasting impact in their communities.
